vault 7 telegram and flossk promotion of non free software

With the latest release of vault 7 it shows that

flossk is wrong in promoting telegram and other non free software because it does not provide the promised security

We need to work on informing people about free software and digital privacy and not be promoting non free software like telegram.

All smart phones are vunerable and androids are full of non free software. Telling people to use telegram or any other software on a phone for security is dangerous .

It includes signal too :frowning:

yes and I addressed that. All mobile phones, but we are promoting telegram at that is a huge shame on flossk in my eyes.
I am not using signal either and we should not be telling people that any computer connected to the internet is secure.

if you attended my workshop on gpg you would have heard that.

Worth mentioning that any communication app, regardless of privacy features it may have, has to comply with the laws of the country where servers run.

In the case of Telegram, compliance with Russian laws, which require any company to retain data for at least 30 days on its servers.

Personally, I stick with Signal and Wire ( swiss based company with some of the best privacy laws in the world)

Best,
Bekim

Signal was not cracked, mobile OSes were. Also Linux apparently. Targeting these would require high costs and risks of being caught, thus defeating mass surveillance at least.

Telegram is based in Berlin, still not safe though for technical reasons. And no, Swiss law doesn’t protect you, that’s just PR. Also technical reasons.

I also think the documents (including leaks) should be read more carefully. Nowhere in those revelations do we read that signal or telegram where cracked. That’s simply not true. As Arianit mentioned, mobile OSes where.

please address this issue of flossk promoting non free software.

And I repeat, even promoting a supposed secure messaging app on mobile is leading people in the wrong direction, we should be telling them no computer connected to a network is secure.

please address this issue of flossk promoting non free software.

Below are the dates and message-ids of some messages in which you have
