Fast forward 19:30 to see Kosovo
Well done Enkelena and Albiona
The next 4-5 months is critical for preparing a bid, the decision will
probably be made end of 2019 or early 2020.

Here are some more specific suggestions between now and the deadline:
1. attend at least one MiniDebConf where you can meet people and talk
about your plans for DebConf21 in person. This is in October so you
probably want to send the requests for travel funds and a visa very soon:
2. organize another MiniDebConf in Kosovo, after the Vaumarcus event,
e.g. a weekend in November. OpenFest in Bulgaria is 2-3 November, maybe
you could do something the next weekend, 9-10 November? Then people who
want to attend both events can travel in Bulgaria Kosovo for a few days
in the middle. Advertise it now on the Debian mailing lists because
some people need to get permission from their boss to travel and many
people want to buy the flight tickets before prices increase.
3. try to have as many people as possible at your event. This gives the
DebConf organizers confidence in your community.
4. emphasize the NGO funds you can get in Kosovo. This is really
important, it gives you a big advantage over all the other destinations.
For example, the US Embassy has a program to pay the travel costs of
speakers from the US:
and there are many Debian people in the US who want to come. If you
show the DebConf organizers how you paid for the CoderGals hackathon
that will also help them understand the funding possibilities. Make a
one-page P&L for the hackathon with sponsors at the top (Income/Revenue)
and expenses at the bottom:
Please tell me if you find this helpful.
