ContentTranslation tool for Wikipedia available for Albanian Translations

A message by Amir Aharoni:

Dear friends,

I am interrupting my Facebook silence to announce something that means a lot to me, and I hope that it will mean a
lot to you, too.

Some of you may remember that when I visited the fine cities of Gjakova and Prishitna over a year ago, I gave talks about translating Wikipedia articles and showed a preview demo of the ContentTranslation tool.

Well, I’m
proud to announce that this is not any longer a preview or a demo, but it actually works, and it is enabled in the Albanian Wikipedia!

To use it:

  • Log in to the Albanian Wikipedia.
  • Enable the beta feature.
  • Go to Contributions (“Kontributet”).
  • Go to Translations.
  • Select a language to translate from (for example, English)
  • Select “Shqip” in “To”.
  • Type the name of an article that doesn’t exist in Albanian yet.
  • Click “Start translating” and translate smile emoticon

We don’t have machine translation to Albanian yet, but we hope to have it some day, so for now you just have to type it yourself. Adapting links, images and categories should be much easier with the new tool.

I’d love to hear your comments!

Cheers,

Altin
