We are less then 5 ppl who want/have access to servers, I don’t think we need ldap or anything similar for just 5 ppl.

I think everyone is sure that running gitlab ourselves is a waste.
I love your idea to give everyone shell accounts; do please set that up.
The only easier option I know of is a fossil server.

I think the only service we give members is the present mailing list.
If you set up the time-sharing system and a user management system other
than one of the typical authentication styles, I am happy to implement a
corresponding login script for the time-sharing system.
Ok guys, give me a vm and I will set it up for self service. also the
reason why we have only 5 ppl is because we are not doing our job of
training new people.
